On Saturday, October 29th started as a day I planned to be a volunteer model to help a friend for her final exam in makeup artistry, but little did I know Saturday would turn into a fun filled day of watching and learning some of the best makeup techniques. The excitement took place at the renowned Gwynnis Mosby Makeup Academy, which offers make up classes such as: Basic Principles in Makeup Artistry, Just Eyes, The Everyday Woman, Bridal, Airbrushing and many more. I had the pleasure of having my makeup done by my friend and newly graduated makeup artist Bayo, who styled me in one of her custom signature pieces from her BayoKemistry clothing line. The makeup skills she obtained in just two short weeks was absolutely remarkable. Ms. Gwynnis offered top notch customer service to the graduate makeup artists and models and made the day even more enjoyable. I am personally looking forward to taking a makeup class in the very near future!
If you enjoy eating a soft chocolate chip cookie, you will love the Neiman Marcus chocolate chip cookie. A set of four cookies came with my daughter’s kid’s meal along with the recipe. So here it is:
Ingredients: ½ cup (1 stick) butter softened, 1 cup light (brown) sugar, 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 large egg, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 1 ¾ cups all purpose flour, ½ teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon (baking) soda, ½ teaspoon salt, 1 ½ teaspoons instant espresso coffee powder, and 1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Cream the butter with the sugars using an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy (approximately 30 seconds). Beat in the egg and the vanilla extract for another 30 seconds. In a mixing bowl, sift together the dry ingredients and beat into the butter mixture at low speed for about 15 seconds. Stir in the espresso coffee powder and chocolate chips.
Using a 1-ounce scoop or 2- tablespoon measure, drop cookie dough onto a greased cookie sheet about 3 inches apart. Gently press down on the dough with the back of a spoon to spread out into a 2-inch circle. Bake for about 20 minutes or until nicely browned around the edges. Bake a little longer for a crispier cookie. Makes 2 dozen cookies.
After I had my daughter, I became very conscientious about trying to remain fashion forward. Now juggling work and family activities, my time to shop is extremely limited.
Since fashion trends and seasonal colors consistently change, I try to pair pieces that I have in my closet with a couple new pieces each season. Take a look a the ensembles I put together for fall. Click on the picture below to display in a slide show. Popular items: Tan Chunky Sweater, Rabbit Cropped Jacket, and the L.A.M.B Dayton Boot.
Five days, four nights, warm days and cool nights – the activities were endless. From sun up to sun down, each moment was filled with unlimited fun!
My family trip to San Francisco continues to bring a smile to my face. These were our most memorable moments:
Watching the Blue Angelsperform aerobatics. That was an experience! We enjoyed the precise formation and the ribbons that the planes created in honor of breast cancer awareness. We saw the performance on two different days and both were treats.
The walk through Muir Woods National Monument was breath taking! The height of the Redwood trees is a must-see and I’m pretty sure my jaw remained slightly ajar the entire walk. Enlarge the two photos below of the trees that I captured.
Wine tasting at the castleCastello di Amarosa. The castle provides an ideal environment for families, from the animals to a room for children to color and enjoy grape juice and chocolate.
Grape stomping at Sterling Vineyards was a little cold, mushy, and brought on lots of laughs. Afterwards we left our grape stained foot print on a t-shirt.
Touring Alcatrazwas educational and very well organized. Upon entering, we received a headset attached to an audio recorder which provided direction for where to walk and what happened in various areas of the prison. The recorder had a play back feature that allows individuals to tour at their own pace.
